  • Shri Rajput Karni Sena press conference- Lokendra Singh Kalvi

"On the contrary, I can say that all Rajputs will feel utmost pride in seeing the entire film that has been made after exhaustive research by Bhansali".

Shri Rajput Karni Sena cheif Lokendra Singh Kalvi has expressed his displeasure after the British Board Of Film Classification (BBFC) passed Padmavati with no cuts in the UK.

If the royal family found nothing objectionable, the protests would be withdrawn, the Times of India reported.

A caste organisation in India, which has been staging violent protests across India against the screening of the Deepika Padukone starrer Padmavati, has threatened to burn down theatres in the UK.

Meanwhile, a functionary at Viacom 18, however, said there was no plan to release the film globally without it being cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Asked about the inaccuracies in the Class 12 history text-book regarding Padmini, Devnani said: "I have asked the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, which brings out these books, to examine the matter and submit a report."RBSE chairperson BL Chaudhary said the syllabus in the history text-books has not been changed since the last 50 years".

Pistorius' jail sentence more than doubled
South African law sets 15 years as the suggested minimum for murder, though this can be reduced depending on the circumstances. Oscar Pistorius sits in the dock during his sentencing hearing at North Gauteng High Court on June 13, 2016 in Pretoria.

The Rajput Karni Sena had even called for a Bharat Bandh on December 1 to protest against the controversial film over what it calls "blatant distortion of facts" by its makers. The set of the movie was vandalised twice - in Jaipur and Kolhapur - and the director was roughed up by Karni Sena members in Jaipur in January. After those two incidents, protests against the film nearly went silent.

Further maintaining his stand on banning the movie, he said, "If a new date of release is announced, we will be ready to protest again". "But tampering with historical facts and defaming Rajput glory is something that can not be ignored", said Kalvi.

However, historians are yet to confirm whether queen Padmini actually existed or not and the film has been inspired by a 16th-century poem.

Bhansali has been under attack from the group since he started shooting for the movie. Even the Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh governments are mulling over imposing a ban on the film which has irked several Hindu groups.
