  • First 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' Images Reveal Jessica Chastain and a New Look for Mystique

Well, based on how well it did in the box-office I think 20th Century Fox is taking notes. Entertainment Weekly released this fiery cover and some exclusive first looks at the latest attempt to adapt the classic Chris Claremont story.

Here's Jessica Chastain as a "quiet but brutal" villain, an otherwordly shapeshifter who manipulates Phoenix for her own agenda.

Sophie Turner told EW she studied multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia in order to play Jean's duality. However, Chastain is rocking the silver locks. Unlike the comics, where the Phoenix is a cosmic force that fused with Jean, it will instead be framed as something that always lived inside of Jean, which is probably an easier narrative decision than going into the complexity of space creatures and other cosmic life-not to mention potential emotional drama. If Chastain is not Lilandra, might this indicate that Simon Kinberg envisions this as a two-part story?

The film's cast isn't spilling too many details either, but Turner did explain some themes behind it that again make it seem very similar to the source material: Namely, the battle (literally and metaphorically) for Jean Grey's soul. I'm not saying every movie needs to be political, but they all have the potential to be about so much more than destruction and boss battles.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for a November 2018 release. It's one of the most famous X-Men comic book runs of all time, originally published in 1976-1977, and sent ripples throughout the Marvel universe. Notably, the announcement does not include Evan Peters, who played Quicksilver in the last two X-Men movies. That suffering is nearly certainly going to come at the hands of Jessica Chastain's villain - Lilandra, Empress of the Shi'ar Empire. There's also a new close-up of Mystique's makeover, which can be found in the gallery below.

He said that Kapoor was happy to make the acquaintance of the guests from Peshawar in his Mumbai home. His colleagues and family members were the first one to arrive at the prayer meet.

The film, set in 1992, will feature the X-Men as true superheroes, world-famous after their defeat of Apocalypse in the last film.

The image comes via Entertainment Weekly and shows Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. The Canadian PM made global waves when he publicly supported refugees after the current US government tried to deny Syrian ones who had been granted entry into the U.S. Talk about a super team-up...

In a photo (below), we get our first glimpse at the character, which has Chastain abandon her red locks for a platinum blonde look. "She starts to get more protective of the [school] children and Charles wants to push them to prove to the world that mutants can be good for humanity and I just see them as small children".

Simon Kinberg is writing and directing the film, marking his directorial debut.

As the Disney/Fox deal is looming on the horizon, let us not forget that there are still two X-Men films coming next year. He will also produce alongside Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker. "Sophie really lived and breathed the movie in a way that was extraordinary".
