More than 64,000 tonnes of plastic packaging is disposed of in household general waste bins and sent to landfill in Scotland each year, costing around £11 million. He had also urged people to shun plastic to protect the environment.

The Minister also led a Walk in Abuja to sensitise Nigerians on the negative impact of indiscriminate disposal of waste plastics in the country.
