I'm happy to see that MTV is going back to its roots with Aeon Flux in a way, and I hope this opens up the door for a return of other Liquid Television segments. The cult series first aired on MTV as an experimental animated series in 1991, and was later adapted into a 2005 feature film starring Charlize Theron. He'll be joined by executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, the veteran film and television producer, who serves as EP for The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. This series is just the latest MTV show from the past to be revived for a reboot, with the network now developing revivals of Jersey Shore, Yo MTV Raps, Total Request Live and The Real World.

The original MTV animated Aeon Flux show, created by animator Peter Chung, first debuted in 1991 as a six-part series of shorts. The live-action Aeon Flux takes place in a futuristic dystopian state and centers around the titular acrobatic assassin Aeon Flux, who partners with a rag-tag crew of biohacking scoundrels in efforts to save humanity. Hurd, who produced the live-action Aeon Flux film in 2005, will also serve as an executive producer. Produced by MTV Films and directed by Karyn Kusama, the film had an impressive cast that included Theron and Frances McDormand, but couldn't eke out either a critical or commercial victory. THR reports that the network has set Jeff Davis as the showrunner for the rebooted series. The show was created by animator Peter Chung, and is set in the year 7698, in the aftermath of a global environmental crisis that wiped out almost the entire planet, except for two border cities in what was previously referred to as Eastern Europe. In 1995, a ten-episode half hour long animated series was released. That makes sense after the film had a rough go with critics, fans, and the box office while the series still retains much of its goodwill among the industry and fan communities.

After Trump trade spat, UK’s May warns against unilateral action
Trump went on to say that the USA gets "unfairly clobbered" on trade despite "protecting Europe at great financial loss". German Chancellor Angela Merkel described his change of heart as "sobering and a little depressing".

Hopefully, this new series can match reverse that negative reaction. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the time is ripe for a reboot.
