Alex Iovine and her girlfriend, Emma Pichl, are accusing an Uber driver in New York City of discriminating against them after he allegedly kicked them out of the auto for kissing in the backseat.

An Uber driver who booted two kissing women out of his auto had his livery licence suspended on Tuesday. "We would never disrespect someone else's auto in such manner and we always handle ourselves appropriately in public", Iovine said. He claimed that one woman "forced the other to smell her armpit, they played loud videos on their phones [and] one put her feet on his seat". She thought he was joking, ' Iovine, an advertising technology consultant, said.

The driver, Ahmed Elbotari, 35, wearing a wrinkled, ill-fitting undershirt and frosted sunglasses, can be seen on the recording opening the backdoor of the vehicle after pulling over at Canal St.to force the couple out when he eyed the lip lock.

"This is an open society and Uber is a platform that is available to anybody regardless of your background, your orientation, and that is sacred to us", Khosrowshahi told the NY Post.

Taxi and Limousine Commission spokesman Allan Fromberg called the driver's behavior "ridiculous", adding it's 2018 and "this isn't the way we live anymore".

'It's disrespectful, ' he says as he reaches for the phone to stop the recording.

The driver has since been suspended from using the app, with the company revealing it does not tolerate discrimination. "You aren't allowed to do this".

When they protest, telling him that "kissing is not illegal", he insists they're wrong, saying: "Yes, it is illegal".

"It's my own vehicle". CNN reached out to the couple about el Boutari's claims.

Tough experience yesterday. Help spread the word about this Uber driver. "We don't get out there much and march in the parade", Iovine says. "They reportedly have been refunded the cost of the $22 ride".

The city's Taxi and Limousine Commission said on Monday that no complaint with the agency had been filed in connection to the incident, but that it has launched an investigation. "I think we are going to steer clear of Uber for a bit", Pichl said. "I was very surprised".

'It was a really awful experience - and ironically occurred on a bright sunny day during pride month in NYC'. I haven't experienced homophobic behaviour in the city.

Alex Iovine, 26, and her girlfriend Emma Pichl, 24, say they were headed from one birthday party to another in New York City when they requested the ride-hailing service. "It was a good lesson to show it can happen to you anywhere".
