"It's no longer 'Down with Trump, ' it's 'f*** Trump'".

At Sunday night's Tony Awards, De Niro launched an expletive at Trump. "He repeated 'F*** Trump" a second time and received a standing ovation from the crowd at the awards show for excellence in Broadway theater, held in NY.

Thirty-six hours after De Niro drew a standing ovation by crying "Fuck Trump" at the Tony awards, the president responded by attacking the two-time Oscar victor as a "very low IQ individual".

Representatives for De Niro did not immediately return a request for comment.

The Oscar-winning actor has starred in a number of boxing films, including Raging Bull, and he pulled no punches during the live television broadcast of Sunday night's Tony Awards.

Donald Trump hits back at ‘very Low IQ’ Robert De Niro
The actor specifically apologized to the Canadian Prime Minister as well as other leaders who attended the G7 summit Saturday. The Academy Award victor shouted out, "Fuck Trump! ", a declaration which brought the audience to their feet in ovation.

Trump sent the tweets about De Niro from Air Force One as he returned from the meeting with Kim, according to CNN.

"I watched him. and truly believe he may be "punch-drunk", he said.

The president's diatribe against De Niro did not end there either, he continued in a second tweet that the actor must not 'realize the economy is the best it's ever been with employment being at an all time high, and many companies pouring back into our country'.

"First, I wanna say, 'f*** Trump, '" De Niro declared.

De Niro, a noted liberal, has been increasingly critical of Trump, a Republican, at smaller show business events in the past year, but none of them had the profile enjoyed by the Tony Awards. "Wake up Punchy!" Trump wrote Wednesday morning, or Tuesday afternoon ET. On Monday, the actor apologized to Canadians for the "idiotic behavior of my president".
