  • Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music unveiled

Garmin on Wednesday added a bit more versatility to its Vivoactive 3 smartwatch with the introduction of the Vivoactive 3 Music, a new model that adds local music storage to the mix. Those songs can be transferred from your computer or downloaded from a music streaming service. The other big feature is battery life: it can last up to seven days in smartphone mode, and up to 5 hours when in Global Positioning System with music mode.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music is really for those who will take advantage of its music storage and offline listening. From there, simply pair the wearable with a set of compatible Bluetooth headphones and you're off to the races. With music and more advanced sleep-tracking, the Vivoactive 3 Music could be the Global Positioning System watch that's useful for most people. In smartwatch mode, the battery is good for 7 days. But the watch had a couple of drawbacks - namely that it lacked advanced sleep-tracking analysis and offline music storage. It's a great and sensible move for Garmin, as most people who workout with music would love to leave their smartphone at home; however, it should be noted that at launch the Vivoactive 3 Music will only work with iHeartRadio at launch.

Another Garmin smartwatch is bringing the tunes as Vivoactive 3 Music is unveiled

As for the watch itself, it has a 43.1 mm polymer case and weighs 39g. Additional sensors include altimeter, thermometer, compass, gyro and accelerometer. The Vivoactive 3 Music is launching today for $299.99 and can be found at Garmin's website. You can check notifications from your phone and control the companys VIRB action cameras.

Essentially an upgraded version of the standard Vivoactive 3 released at the back of past year, the 3 Music will now let you store music on another of its watches as well as enjoy some offline syncing support from select music streaming services. The non-music vivoactive 3 watch has dropped to $250.
