  • Mexico's forward Hirving Lozano celebrates after scoring during the Russia 2018 World Cup Group F football match between Germany and Mexico at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on June 17

Hirving Lozano caused a small artificial quake when he scored a historic winning goal for Mexico against Germany in their first World Cup match at the showpiece tournament in Russian Federation. Both literally and figuratively.

This Sunday gone, Mexico and Germany's soccer teams were engaging in battle on the pitch when the former's Hirving Lozano scored the only goal of the match.

FIFA, football's world governing body, has started an investigation into alleged homophobic chants by Mexican fans during their country's shock victory against defending champions Germany in the World Cup on Sunday.

SIMMSA Mexico, the agency that detected the natural disaster, is a division of the Institute of Geological and Atmospheric Research.

The Merseyside outfit are keen on striking a deal for the 22-year-old prodigy, reported the Liverpool Echo this month, with PSV director Marcel Brands joining the Blues from the Dutch giants this window.

Mexico's federation has in the past appealed to fans to refrain from using the chant, and the effort was largely successful at last year's Confederations Cup in Russia. "We played without fear and my team-mates were incredible".

Germany will now look ahead to their next group match against Sweden and Low hasn't shied away from the fact that it is imperative that his side get a result.

"I think he will be able to - and he has the tools to play - in the Premier League".

"(Osorio) deserves this win the most", said midfielder Rafael Marquez, who is playing at his fifth World Cup.

"We will certainly not change our match plan", Low said.

"In the second half we pressed more but Mexico also dropped back", he added.
