United Colors of Benetton n'a pas peur de choquer pour attirer l'attention du consommateur sur les conditions d'exil des migrants. Il s'agit de deux photos, aussi diffusées sur leur compte Twitter, prises pendant les récents sauvetages de migrants notamment de l'Aquarius. Le groupe s'est offert deux doubles pages dans La Repubblica et Corriere della Sera pour diffuser deux nouvelles publicités qui font la polémique en Italie.
