Asian stocks rise in midst of US-China trade tensions

Hong Kong's Hang Seng was almost unchanged at 29,682.78 and the Shanghai Composite in mainland China increased 0.6 percent to 2,934.18.
The CSI 300, which tracks large caps listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen, increased by 0.44 per cent, or 15.94 points, to 3,608.91, while the Shanghai Composite Index also added 0.49 per cent, or 13.95 points, to 2,889.76.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index finished up 0.6 percent at 22,693.04, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 climbed 1.0 percent to 6,232.10. Taiwan's benchmark rose, but Southeast Asian indexes were mixed.
