But was it true?

US President Donald Trump has previously expressed repugnance at the act of breastfeeding.

"The failing NY Times Fake News story today about breast feeding must be called out", the president tweeted.

"The US strongly supports breastfeeding but we don't believe women should be denied access to formula. Many woman need this option because of malnutrition and poverty".

New York: Trump's chauffeur for over 20 years has filed a lawsuit against him, alleging the President owes him a whopping United States dollars 200,000 in unpaid overtime wages.

Hundreds of government delegates at the assembly expected the resolution to be approved swiftly. Breastfed babies usually get sick less often, because breast milk contains antibodies that can protect infants from bacterial and viral infections. Another section called on countries to restrict promotion of food products that could have harmful effects on children.

We're told the USA threatened Ecuador with punishing trade measures and the removal of military aid. Russian Federation stepped forward to sponsor the measure, and the United States didn't fight back against it.

But it's not the first time the Trump administration has gone head-to-head with WHO.

Every two years the World Health Assembly convenes and discusses public health issues. Abbott reported that it had lobbied Congress on "Proposals regarding infant nutrition marketing".

"The existence of infant formula is not in question here".

Earlier this year, countries sent diplomats to Geneva for a meeting of the World Health Organization, the UN-affiliated organization.

Cut to 2018, when some delegates wanted to

So the administration is trying to end maternity coverage, birth control access, reproductive rights., and now breastfeeding?

Which of course was not really what the debate was about - since formula is perfectly acceptable and mothers should indeed be able to make their own choice - but rather putting pen to paper on the scientifically-backed conclusion that breastmilk is more beneficial than formula.

A Guardian/Save the Children investigation in some of the most deprived areas of the Philippines found that Nestlé and three other companies were offering doctors, midwives and local health workers free trips to lavish conferences, meals, tickets to shows and the cinema and even gambling chips, earning their loyalty.

This is not an atypical approach for some anti-formula activists. The main problem is that in countries where safe drinking water is hard to obtain, mixing dry formula with local water can provoke diarrhea or other illnesses that kill babies.

Aware of these problems, the World Health Organization has tried to limit the use of formula, especially in poorer countries around the globe.

But in the US, disparities in race, income and geography underscore the work that's left to do to support USA mothers who want to give their infants breastmilk. Describing radical anti-formula efforts as "encouragement of breastfeeding", as media reports did, is extremely tendentious.

A spokesman from the US Department of Health and Human Services told the Times that the original resolution "placed unnecessary hurdles for mothers seeking to provide nutrition to their children".

Ecuador had planned to introduce the bill, but according to the newspaper, backed out after they were threatened with punishing trade measures and the withdrawal of USA military aid.
