Nissan tient toutefois à préciser que " hormis le modèle GT-R ", les véhicules s'avèrent en eux-mêmes conformes aux normes de sécurité japonaises et que leurs émissions correspondent aux spécifications du catalogue.

Coup de tonnerre. Nissan a reconnu que la plupart de ses usines au Japon ont employé des méthodes de contrôle de pollution de véhicules inappropriées.

Dans un communiqué, le constructeur automobile a ainsi expliqué que les rapports d'inspection ont été basés sur des valeurs de mesures altérées.

Ce problème n'a aucune conséquence sur les voitures exportées du Japon car il porte sur des obligations concernant uniquement le marché japonais, a souligné Nissan.

Les contrôles ont été effectués mais dans quelles conditions?

L'action Renault, partenaire de Nissan, cédait 1,89% à 12h11 GMT après avoir perdu jusqu'à 2,6% en début de séance à Paris. Ce qui revient à dire que Nissan a triché sur ces éléments.

Le constructeur a attribué ce manquement à une pénurie de personnel. Il concerne notamment le monospace compact Note, le modèle de Nissan le plus vendu au Japon, et le SUV Juke.

Nissan n'est pas le premier fabricant à admettre des tests d'émissions falsifiés. Ainsi, les données relatives aux émissions de gaz d'échappement et de consommation en carburant sont erronées.

Les données kilométriques étaient en outre parfois exagérées afin d'enjoliver les performances des véhicules.

Pour le moment, Nissan n'a pas précisé le nombre de véhicules concernés, ni la durée pendant laquelle ces méthodes non conformes ont été employées.

On ne connaît pas encore l'ampleur de ces pratiques.
