New Zealander Wayne Pivac will take over from Warren Gatland as Wales head coach at the conclusion of the 2019 World Cup.
New Zealander Pivac has been the Scarlets' boss since 2014, masterminding a Guinness Pro12 title past year and securing passage into the semi-finals of the Champions Cup.
Gatland will have been in charge for 12 years when he steps down in December 2019, making him the longest-serving Wales coach ever.
Martyn Phillips, chief executive of the WRU, said that there should be no complaints after a rigorous selection process which took two years to complete.
