President Donald Trump has published a letter sent to him by North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un, in which the young ruler praises his USA counterpart but does not mention any commitments to abandon nuclear weapons.

In the note, Kim addresses Trump formally, calling him "Your Excellency Mr. President", ( five times) and describes the June 12 meeting of the two leaders as "the start of a meaningful journey".

According to media reports, the US military sent wooden cases to which the remains of soldiers will be transferred at the border. The U.S. Embassy in Seoul said it had no immediate information.

That was the day Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived for two days of meetings with top North Korean officials, which ended on a sour note after Pyongyang blasted the US side for issuing a "unilateral and gangster-like demand for denuclearization".

On Monday Trump reiterated his confidence in Kim.

Several days previously, Pyongyang had slated the U.S. for seeking unilateral and forced denuclearization from North Korea. Kim also agreed to repatriate remains of United States troops who died during the Korean War six decades ago.

ICE has three family detention centers with room for about 3,000 people in all, and the places are already at or near capacity. Officials have until July 27 to reunite the remaining approximately 2,900 minors over the age of 5 with their parents.

Other speculation is that North Korea was discomforted with the way it was portrayed by the US media _ as trying to make money from the war remains.

But skepticism remains over whether North Korea's findings will satisfy Japan. Roughly 5,300 U.S. troops presumed to have been killed in the Korean war are unaccounted for. "Great progress being made", Trump said in a tweet that also included a copy of the correspondence from Kim.

The Department of Defense estimates that North Korea is holding about 200 sets of remains from some 5,300 American military personnel believed missing in the country. On the day he left the North issued a statement on state-run media accusing the United States of "gangster-like" demands for unilateral disarmament. The expected North Korean officials never arrived, according to the official who requested anonymity as he was not permitted to talk publicly about the event.

Mr Trump said the letter from Mr Kim (dated 6 July), was "a very nice note".

Pompeo last week failed to demonstrate any progress on denuclearization talks, leading one source with knowledge of the discussions to say the White House felt it went "as badly as it could have gone".

Last month, Trump said North Korea had agreed to give back the remains of thousands of soldiers, and that the transfer had already begun, a claim Pompeo later corrected before a U.S. Senate committee.
