President Donald Trump has published a letter sent to him by North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un, in which the young ruler praises his USA counterpart but does not mention any commitments to abandon nuclear weapons.
In the note, Kim addresses Trump formally, calling him "Your Excellency Mr. President", ( five times) and describes the June 12 meeting of the two leaders as "the start of a meaningful journey".
According to media reports, the US military sent wooden cases to which the remains of soldiers will be transferred at the border. The U.S. Embassy in Seoul said it had no immediate information.
That was the day Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived for two days of meetings with top North Korean officials, which ended on a sour note after Pyongyang blasted the US side for issuing a "unilateral and gangster-like demand for denuclearization".
On Monday Trump reiterated his confidence in Kim.
Several days previously, Pyongyang had slated the U.S. for seeking unilateral and forced denuclearization from North Korea. Kim also agreed to repatriate remains of United States troops who died during the Korean War six decades ago.
