The Welsh singer is now being treated for a "bacterial infection" in hospital according to a post on his Twitter page.

Back in September, Tom was forced to cancel his U.S. tour just five days before it was due to begin "following medical advice".

And now Sir Tom Jones' official twitter account has confirmed the concert due to take place at Chester Racecourse today (Thursday, July 19) will now be pushed back until Sunday, August 12.

"He is extremely sorry and disappointed not to be able to perform tonight".

The crooner is now on a world tour, and had been scheduled to perform at Stansted Park, West Sussex, earlier this week.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and we wish Sir Tom well". If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, refunds will be available at point of purchase.

"Unfortunately, Sir Tom is unwell and has been advised by doctors not to perform". He has more dates in the United Kingdom coming up in August.

The legendary singer lost his love in April 2016 following her battle with cancer.
