Nikola Kalinic has rejected a World Cup runners-up medal gifted him by his teammates and coaching staff. He was offered a second-place medal but told Sportske Novosti.

Kalinic reportedly refused to come on as a substitute in Croatia's opening 2-0 win over Nigeria due to a back problem, and was subsequently dismissed by coach Zlatko Dalic.
"Thanks for the medal, but I didn't play in Russian Federation", he told Sportske Novosti.
The Blazers boss Dalic was bitter with the attitude put out by the former Blackburn player, having encountered a similar incident against Brazil in a pre-World Cup game and in a training session.
