An immigration lawyer is claiming that a little girl has died after contracting a respiratory illness while at an ICE detention center in Texas. "We do not have information on the cause of death or information that confirms a connection between medical treatment at STFRC and this death".
The story that the MSNBC host referenced originated from Twitter.
Her post said the granddaughter of a friend of hers died "as a result of negligent care and a respiratory illness she contracted from one of the other children". He said police did, in fact, respond to calls from both ICE employees and the Federal Protective Service, Homeland Security's internal police division, "when there were imminent life safety threats".
Authorities have not confirmed reports of the death, and ICE denied in a tweet that the girl died while at the Dilley detention center.
The recent controversy surrounding ICE and the handing of illegal immigrants at the U.S. -Mexico border kicked off after the Trump administration implemented a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal border crossings, charging all individuals who cross the border illegally with unlawful entry.
