Benitez confirms Hayden will remain a Newcastle player

It hasn't been a happy transfer window for Newcastle United fans and Rafa Benitez with Mike Ashley tightening his purse strings when it comes to acquiring new players.

The Tyneside outfit, who finished 10th in the Premier League last season, have so far this summer signed Martin Dubravka, Ki Sung-yueng and Fabian Schar on permanent deals and Chelsea's Kenedy on loan.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has launched a scathing attack on the club's board over their transfer policy following a 4-0 loss to Braga in pre season.

Having sold Aleksandar Mitrovic to Fulham earlier in the week, Benitez will be keen to get a striker in before the transfer window closes next Thursday, but as he keeps on suffering frustration in the market, doubts must be raised over whether he will be able to find someone, and sign them, in time.
