"Nous ne tolérerons pas les agissements que nous avons observés aujourd'hui", a-t-il déclaré lors d'une conférence de presse, avertissant l'opposition qu'elle ferait "une grosse erreur" en prenant l'attitude du gouvernement pour de la "faiblesse". "Au final, l'avenir sera peut-être plus sombre que du temps de Mugabe".

Le président Mnangagwa, soucieux de se démarquer de son prédécesseur, avait promis des élections libres, pacifiques et transparentes, dans l'espoir d'attirer de nouveaux les investisseurs occidentaux dans son pays au bord de la faillite.
