  • Coroner States That Margot Kidder's Death Was An Intentional Overdose

When actress Margot Kidder passed back in May, her manager, Camilla Fluxman Pines, said she died peacefully in her sleep.

In a statement provided to The Associated Press Wednesday, Coroner Richard Wood said Kidder's death was "a result of a self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose".

The daughter of late Superman star Margot Kidder has urged people experiencing mental health difficulties to seek help after a coroner's office in the USA released its ruling on her mother's death. The coroner didn't reveal precisely what drugs she had taken.

Hollywood has been rocked by suicides this year, with Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain also taking their own lives. While living in Montana, she was also an activist for progressive causes and animal rights.

She added, referring to the high suicide rate in Montana, "It's a very unique sort of grief and pain".

Born Margaret Ruth Kidder on October 17, 1948 in Canada's Northwest Territories, she grew up in a small town without a movie theatre.
