Ce n'est pas tant une évolution de la société par rapport à son histoire qu'une nouvelle perception du rôle des jeux-vidéos dans la société qui vient de se jouer en Allemagne.

Les jeux vidéo sont reconnus comme un média culturel depuis de nombreuses années, et cette dernière décision cimente ce constat avec l'utilisation de symboles inconstitutionnels.

A condition que leur présence n'ait pas d'objectif de propagande, comme l'a précisé l'autorité allemande de régulation des jeux vidéo (USK). "L'adéquation sociale signifie que les symboles d'organisations anticonstitutionnelles peuvent être utilisés dans un titre, à condition que cela serve l'art ou la science, la représentation de l'actualité ou l'histoire", explique l'USK dans un communiqué. "Les jeux qui passent en revue de manière critique les événements passés peuvent se voir attribuer une approbation" a déclaré une officielle allemande.
