Le Sénat rejette la légalisation de l'avortement — Argentine

La Conférence épiscopale argentine, qui rassemble les évêques catholiques du pays, a réagi dans un communiqué à la décision du Sénat: "Nous remercions les hommes et les femmes, au Sénat et au sein des institutions, qui se sont prononcés en faveur de la vie".

38 sénateurs ont dit "non" au texte autorisant l'IVG pendant les 14 premières semaines de grossesse, 31 ont voté en faveur et deux se sont abstenus.

Devant le Parlement situé à Buenos Aires, le vote défavorable à l'avortement a été accueilli par des feux d'artifice et des cris de joie par les militants anti-IVG.

Le prélat qualifie de "moderne" la position du mouvement anti-avortement et lui oppose les pratiques abortives, selon lui "de vieilles lois du siècle passé" qui doivent être remplacées par des "propositions du 21e siècle et pas des vieilles propositions de mort du 20e siècle".

Depuis plusieurs semaines, le pays est divisé en deux couleurs: le vert, qui symbolise la lutte pour le droit à l'avortement, et le bleu clair, référence au drapeau du pays, qui représentait les militants anti-avortement.

Les partisans de la légalisation, eux, devront désormais attendre 2020 pour que la question puisse de nouveau être examinée par le Parlement.

Le député de la coalition gouvernementale Cambiemos (Changeons) Daniel Lipovetzky, évoque la possibilité de convoquer un référendum. "Quand les députés pensent d'une manière et les sénateurs d'une autre. C'est possible qu'on le propose".
