Samsung made its Bixby-powered smart speaker, Galaxy Home, official this morning at its Unpacked event. It uses 20mm straps, which come in colors of Onyx Black, Lunar Grey, Terracotta Red, Lime Yellow, Cosmo Purple, Pink Beige, Cloud Grey, and Natural Brown. It'll also go up against the new iPhones, typically unveiled in September. The new Galaxy Note9 comes with the biggest screen ever on a Note, a 6.4-inch edge-to-edge Super AMOLED 516ppi display (without any notches) said to be great for productivity, multi-tasking and content consumption.
In the USA, the Galaxy Watch price starts at $329 for the 42mm version and is back to $349.99 for the 46mm version. In the US, the Galaxy Watch LTE version will be available through AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon as well as at Samsung.
The circular Samsung Galaxy Watch is getting closer to looking like a real watch that we don't want to take off for special occasions.
More than half of those sales were claimed by Apple, however, which launched a cellular version of its Watch in September past year.
Pre-orders for the smartphone will kick off tomorrow on 10 August, with the 6GB/128GB model costing £899, and the 8GB /512GB storage model priced at £1,099.
It's also the first Galaxy-branded product to run anything other than a flavor of Android, as it runs on Samsung's Tizen wearable operating system rather than Google's Wear OS (formerly known as Android Wear).
It did reveal the speaker has eight microphones that will delivery "far-field voice recognition" for its Bixby.
As for software, it's typical Samsung: the Note9 ships with Oreo, and Samsung isn't making any promises as to when it will get Android 9 Pie.
In terms of OS, the Galaxy Watch retains Tizen, now in its 4.0 incarnation. The Note 9 is created to encourage adoption of the feature by allowing users to connect the phone to a monitor via an HDMI cable, bypassing the need to buy a separate docking station. Again, I didn't have chance to check the limits of functionality and compatibility with iOS on the hands-on session, so again it will be worth holding off for T3's full Galaxy Watch review. However, it falls just short of an instabuy, and especially so if you have the Gear S3 or Gear Sport. It also simply looks more like a regular watch, which is definitely something to approve of. Samsung's screens have always been one of the best things about its phones and this time is no different.
