While ratcheting up pressure on Tehran, the sanctions are worsening rifts between the United States and European allies, and other world powers, which say they remain committed to the nuclear deal, and will not comply with the USA sanctions.

Trump pulled out of the deal in May and last week began reinstating economic sanctions against Iran that were eased in exchange for concessions on Iran's nuclear program.

But administration officials say that increasing pressure on Tehran - including through sanctions - aligns with the possibility of talks with Iranian officials. He used the government's Brexit rhetoric to support his case, saying that "global Britain" should use its "considerable diplomatic power and influence" to force a change of approach.

Trump announced on May 8 that he would abandon the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a landmark nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers - the United States, the UK, France, Russia, China and Germany.

German companies should be allowed to continue to invest in Iran as much as they want and the German government is looking for ways together with its European allies to ensure that financial transactions could still take place, he added. Ignoring all the agreements signed by the preceding US presidents, Trump is "acting like a bully and engaging in a street fight by racketeering and intimidating", according to a review covered in Chinese media.

Earlier this week, British Minister for Middle East Affairs Alistair Burt backed the current deal negotiated with Iran, rejecting the idea that the United Kingdom would "go along with" the US.

The U.S. administration blames Iran for fomenting instability in the Middle East and encouraging terrorism. In an article in the Sunday Telegraph, he said: 'It is time to move on from the flawed 2015 deal.

The statement comes a day after the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to an Iraqi official who claimed on Saturday that Abadi was to visit both neighboring countries' capitals in the coming week.

"It is clear that the danger from Iran did not diminish in the wake of the [2015 Iran] deal", Johnson wrote. Of all the G-7 leaders at the bruising summit, she largely side-stepped the public skirmishing.

Trump slapped the first round of sanctions on the Islamic Regime last week that targets Iran's purchasing of U.S. dollars, trading in precious metals and its automotive sector.
