  • Federer, Zverev put Europe on top at Laver Cup

Yet it was the sight of Djokovic and Federer teaming up in a doubles match against Kevin Anderson and Jack Sock that set pulses racing, with the pair that have won a stunning 34 Grand Slam titles between them appearing too have a great chemistry on court. Last time around, he won the first doubles match with Rafael Nadal but this time, his pairing with Djokovic didn't pay dividends. The match also a hilarious moment play out between them when Djokovic accidentally struck the ball on Federer's waist.

But their opponents soon found their rhythm, taking the second set 6-3, with Sock's experience as a three-time doubles major champion shining through on some impressive volley shots and Anderson displaying a strong serve.

The current Wimbledon and US Open champion was quick to see the amusing side, however, and immediately rushed to Federer's aid before giving him a hearty rub on the back to make amends.

Britain's Kyle Edmund, a Laver Cup debutant, claimed an impressive 6-4 5-7 10-6 win over Sock and match three saw Belgium's David Goffin add to Europe's advantage as he beat Argentina's Diego Schwartzman 6-4 4-6 11-9.
