  • Microsoft wants to reach the workplace before Alexa

While the company has been encouraging users to its cloud-based subscription service, Office 365, in order for them to access Office apps and regular feature updates, it realises some people still simply want to buy Office like the used to: once - that's it - with no subscription fee. Unless you're a business customer looking to upgrade and you're not ready to move your Office life to the cloud, this probably won't matter to you. "We have more than 3,500 full-time security professional s working to secure data centres on behalf of our customers". In 2019, the functionality is coming to Office and Windows. If you want that, you need Office 365 ProPlus, which is getting mostly additions.

Not everybody - or every business - is ready for the cloud, though, and that's where Office 2019 comes in. These features will be available through a software update, Suface Hub 2X later in 2020.

Microsoft Office 2019 is priced at $249.99 for Home and Bussiness consumers.

Organizations can still opt to use the OneNote 2016 desktop app instead of the OneNote for Windows 10 app with Office 2019.

"Insert Data from Picture" is a new feature coming to public preview on the Android Excel app. At its core, the version of, say, Word that you launch as a perpetual customer (Word 2016 or 2019) is the same as the version you launch as an Office 365 subscriber.

The software release is aimed at users who haven't subscribed to the company's Office 365 service and includes updated versions of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher.

Windows Virtual Desktop is a new cloud service that delivers a multi-user Windows 10 experience which is optimized to work with Office 365 Pro Plus.

The No. 4 Ohio State football team will get its toughest test of the season this Saturday when they travel to No. 9 Penn State. The Penn State defense has had problems stopping opponents from moving the ball this year, particularly on the ground.

But back to Office 2019 and the confusion that this release has triggered. It's also available in the SharePoint and Outlook mobile apps. Go here for pricing.

Organizations can not run Office 2019 simultaneously with Office 2016.

Note: The Office apps for Mac users and its specific features may differ from those available for PC users. Fair enough. But it also starts digging at you a little bit and making it clear that you're missing out if you're not going with Office 365.

How much is Office 2019?

During his opening keynote on Monday, Microsoft Satya Nadella made some important announcements ranging from Slack-rival Teams to universal search platform that will rival Google. Spataro described Office 2019 as having a "subset" of the features that were added to Office 365 ProPlus "over the last three years".
