The lawyer who has been hired to represent Cristiano Ronaldo says the allegation of rape made against the player is a "complete fabrication".
A statement from Ronaldo's lawyer Peter Christiansen reiterated the Juventus forward "vehemently denies all accusations in this civil action".
Der Spiegel, the German magazine, published an interview with Kathryn Mayorga and documents showing that Ronaldo agreed to pay her $375,000 as part of a non-disclosure agreement in 2010.
Mayorga's attorneys did not immediately respond to messages.
A lawsuit filed September 27 in Nevada state court seeks to void the non-disclosure agreement that Mayorga's attorneys say she signed while accepting $375,000 to keep quiet.
"The documents which purportedly contain statements by Mr. Ronaldo and have been reported in the media are complete fabrications", Christiansen says in the statement.
"This agreement [for out-of-court settlement] is by no means a confession of guilt".
Ronaldo has vehemently denied the rape accusations.
Las Vegas police have since reopened an investigation into the alleged assault, which Mayorga says took place in Ronaldo's hotel room in the city's Palms Casino resort. "Once again, for the avoidance of doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo's position has always been, and continues to be, that what happened in 2009 in Las Vegas was completely consensual".
Rather, it's claimed Ronaldo entered into the agreement on the advice of his advisors, in order to end "outrageous accusations made against him".
She said: "He starts to come on to me very strong".
"Unfortunately, he now finds himself embroiled in the type of litigation that is all too commonplace in America".
The lawyer added: "Although Cristiano Ronaldo is accustomed to media attention, inherent in the fact that he is a famous person, it is absolutely deplorable that the media continue to propagate and stimulate an intentional defamation campaign based on stolen and easily manipulated digital documents". And further: "But she kept saying 'no.' 'Don't do it.' 'I'm not like the others.' I apologized afterwards".
Christiansen replaced high-profile criminal defence attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld as Ronaldo's legal representative in Las Vegas.
"It is my understanding that in 2015, dozens of entities [including law firms] across many different industries throughout Europe were hacked and their electronic data was stolen and captured by a cybercriminal", the statement adds.
"This hacker tried to sell such information, and a media outlet irresponsibly ended up publishing some of the stolen documents, significant parts of which were altered and / or completely fabricated".
"Mr Ronaldo will leave future discussion of any and all legal matters to his attorneys here [in Las Vegas] and in Europe".
The former Manchester United star said he is "confident that the truth will survive this frenzy".
