Billy McFarland, the founder of the Fyre Festival, is heading to prison for the next six years.

"McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company and the fiasco called the Fyre Festival", Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Joon H. Kim said in a statement previous year when he announced the charges against McFarland.

The con artist was ordered to pay back $26 million to bamboozled festival investors, which advertised headlining artists like Migos and Blink-182. Judge Naomi Buchwald remained unconvinced, and said that the diagnosis was not an excuse for his past actions.

"It is my conclusion based on all the submissions that the defendant is a serial fraudster and that to date his fraud like a circle has no ending", she said. "Mr. McFarland has been dishonest most of his life".

His lawyer had urged leniency, saying McFarland suffers from mental illness that includes delusional beliefs that his talents will lead to "fame and fortune".

Ethiopian PM reaches agreement with soldiers demanding pay rises
In addition to asking for pay rises, the soldiers also requested that Abiy "review the structure and operations of the military". Residents reported that the internet was shut off for almost three hours on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fyre Festival founder could have served up to 20 years for convictions on three counts of wire fraud, one count of bank fraud, and one count of lying to investigators.

"The remorse I feel is crushing", McFarland said during his sentencing, according to Vice News. However, Judge Buchwald allowed for multiple counts of fraud to be served at the same time. Once there, it was clear they had been duped out of the experience promised by McFarland and his numerous celebrity endorsers-Ja Rule, Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner-as a part of his elaborate ticket scam.

It's not the end of McFarland's legal woes: there are a number of class action lawsuits against himself and Fyre Media that are now waiting to be heard.
