  • [VIDEO] 'South Park' Tackles Apu Controversy — Cancel 'The Simpsons'

In a hearing that mocked Brett Kavanaugh, Mr. Hankey attempted to defend his offensive tweets. The show ends up taking a shot at The Simpsons by showing Hankey in Springfield, where he's met by Apu among other staple characters from that continuity.

A quick recap: past year, Indian-American comedian Hari Kondabolu released the documentary The Problem With Apu, which addressed the stereotyped way South Asians are portrayed in American movies and TV.

While Apu has always been a part of The Simpsons recurring cast, South Park has finally chose to address the rival's issue head-on, throwing the FOX series under the bus in the most devastating way possible. As they watch him leave, one of the boys asks, "Where will he go?"

Randy replies: "He'll have to find a place that accepts racist, bad beings like him. There are still places out there who don't care about bigotry and hate". Mr. Hankey was greeted by dozens of Simpsons characters including Apu, who was the first to welcome Mr. Hankey to town. That place? Springfield, the community of "The Simpsons", where Mr. Hankey was welcomed by Apu, a character that's been condemned for its racist stereotyping.

New episodes of South Park air on Wednesday nights at 10 pm ET on Comedy Central.

South Park has a lot on its plate these days in terms of cramming so much news and pop culture developments into 22 minutes of satire, and this week, they did what they could by taking on Brett Kavanaugh, Roseanne Barr and so much more.
