Fiona Simpson, a 23-year-old Australian woman from Queensland's Kingaroy town, went into full-blown mommy mode on Thursday as she threw herself on top of her four-month-old daughter to shield her from hail that was pouring through her busted auto windows.

The massive storm ripped through southeast Queensland on October 11, with reports of tennis-ball-sized hail. Fiona Simpson was caught in the middle of it.

"I'm just so relieved that my daughter and grandmother are alright".

I've learnt my lesson today, NEVER drive in a hail storm!

Simpson told ABC News she was driving home and was forced to pull over near Nanango, eastern Australia, as unrelenting hail made driving impossible. The large hailstones had smashed through the window.

"It was so scary but there was no time to be afraid ..." It just all happened so fast.

The hailstorms punched through her windscreen, prompting Simpson to throw her body across her child in an effort to protect her. She heard a loud bang and noticed that her back window was broken open.

Simpson told The Project that she pulled her daughter out of her auto seat and put her on the floor for protection while she tried to cover her grandmother.

She posted photos of herself in the hospital showing her heavily bruised body.

The rainstorm grew more and more severe, but Simpson told the outlet that the situation really got intense after one each of her car's front and back windows were smashed to pieces from the impacts of hailstones.

People couldn't stop praising her and sending her love, wishing she recovers soon.

"I know I'll be sore tomorrow, does anyone know of a cream or ointment that will help with the bruising?"

"My entire back, arms and head are badly bruised".

After another window smashed in the front of the auto Ms Simpson moved to try and help her grandmother but both women were pelted with large hail stones. "I'm just a mum - you do anything you can to protect your child no matter what, even at your own expense and I would do it again".
