  • McKinnon accused critics of being transphobic

Dr. Rachel McKinnon, who was born a male, won gold in the women's 35-44 age bracket at the UCI Masters track championships in Los Angeles on Sunday.

American Jennifer Wagner, who finished third, led the criticism against McKinnon's participation in the championships.

Wagner responded to English media commentator Katie Hopkins' online swipe at McKinnon by declaring it was not fair that McKinnon was able to compete at all.

He went on to carp about catering to cisgender people's views and attempted to compare this situation to desegregation in sports along racial lines.

Another transgender woman, who competes on a higher level than McKinnon, has argued with McKinnon, acknowledging that the inherent sex differences between men and women making competing against women unfair. "People will never attribute my winning to hard work which is what I think I deserve". It was my first indoor 200m and I have to admit that my 11.92 was significantly slower than I was doing outdoors in the summer. Unfortunately my record lasted 10min before I was beaten by 0.031s. I'm safely through to the semi finals tomorrow afternoon.

Australia considers recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital: Netanyahu
Critics domestically have already argued the decision risks undermining Australia's long-stated commitment to a two-state solution.

In an interview published in January by USA Today, McKinnon insisted that forcing trans people to alter their physical condition to be allowed to participate in sports is a violation of their human rights.

Moran accused athletic governing bodies that have surrendered to transgenderism - which include the organizers of the Olympics and the Boston Marathon - of "pretend (ing) to agree with McKinnon" because they, "and most female athletes, are terrified of a backlash from social justice warriors".

"We can not have a woman legally recognized as a trans woman in society, and not be recognized that way in sports", McKinnon was quoted as saying. Focusing on performance advantage is largely irrelevant because this is a rights issue.

McKinnon's participation in the bracket was made possible past year when another Canadian trans cyclist, Kristen Worley, won a "human rights" settlement that secured a commitment from Cycling Canada, the Ontario Cycling Association, and the UCI to lift their previous restrictions on gender-confused athletes. I bet a lot of white people were pissed off when we desegregated sports racially and allowed black people.

Her arguments did little to stop her accomplishments being immediately criticised by people on social media with McKinnon angrily firing back at trolls on Twitter and Instagram.
