Nutrition has greater impact on bone strength than exercise

A group of researchers from the University of MI conducted a study and found that affects bone strength and the weight of a person.
They found that nutrition has a greater impact on the mass and strength of bones than physical activity. Even after the cessation of training increase bone tissue was preserved as long as the mouse followed the diet with mineral additives.
"The longer-term mineral-supplemented diet leads to not only increases in bone mass and strength, but the ability to maintain those increases even after detraining", says David Kohn, a professor in the schools of dentistry and engineering at the University of MI.
The second discovery that was made by scientists, is that diet can have a beneficial effect on the bone even without training. This surprised Kohn, who expected exercise with a normal diet to fuel greater gains in bone strength, but that wasn't the case.
Most previous studies have focused mainly on calcium, while the University of MI drew attention to phosphorus. The new study increased calcium and phosphorous, and found benefits to increasing both.
The authors of the study note that people need to include in your diet calcium and phosphorus.
Though the findings do not translate directly from mice to humans, they do give researchers a conceptual place to start, the team noted.
It is known that bone mass reaches a peak a person's early twenties, and then declining. The question becomes how to maximize the amount of bone when young, so that when declines do begin, people start from a better position, Kohn says.
