With yet another decent season, Julia Goerges followed up on her success from the previous year with some solid results as the German managed to qualify for the WTA Elite Trophy held in Zhuhai for the second consecutive year. The German found herself two points away from defeat in the second set against the resurgent qualifier Eugenie Bouchard.

Bouchard, who was once ranked as high as No. 5, played her most recent final in 2014, losing to Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova at the Wuhan Open in China.

"This tournament is so special for me because it was my first WTA tournament when I was 14 years old, and the next year when I was 15, in the main draw", she said.
