A 69-year-old pensioner from the Netherlands has started a battle to legally change his age because he feels that it will boost his dating prospects on Tinder.

We'll just have to wait for the court's ruling to find out whether Ratelband gets to drive whatever auto it is that he thinks 49-year-olds are allowed to drive that 69-year-olds aren't.

But the court said there would be practical problems in allowing people to change their birth date, as it would mean legally deleting part of their lives. After all, Ratelband says, "When I'm on Tinder and say I'm 69, I don't get an answer". If I'm 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different auto.

Ratelband argued that he is a "young god" and said changing his age would allow him to "live differently", saying he would get more matches on Tinder if he could put a younger age.

Ratelband's argument hinges on transgender people's ability to now change their genders on their birth certificates. Emile Ratelband told Dutch paper De Telegraaf.

Furthermore, he argued that doctors have assessed that he has the body of a 45-year-old.

'When I'm 69, I am limited.

Warsaw mayor bans far-Right march celebrating 100th anniversary of Polish independence
The statue will be official unveiled on Saturday as part of the centennial observances marking 100 years of Polish independence. The move prompted Polish leaders to quickly draw up plans for an inclusive march Sunday that could be embraced by all citizens.

Ratelband, a motivational speaker and trainer in neurolinguistic programming, said his parents were dead. "If I'm 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different auto", he said.

The Dutch entrepreneur, who has converted to Buddhism, said: "I have done a check-up and what does it show?"

In turn, Mr Ratelband sued them, bringing the case to a court in the city of Arnhmen, in the eastern Dutch province of Gelderland.

The court is due to deliver a written ruling within four weeks.

Ratelband pointed out that transgender people are allowed to change their legal sex, citing self-identification as their grounds: those who identify themselves as a person of another gender, are allowed to insist on being treated, for all legal purposes, as a person with that gender.

But Mr Ratelband does not want to receive a pension yet, and he has pledged not to claim for one until he reaches retirement age again should he win the case. "Who was that little boy back then?", the judge asked rhetorically, according to The Telegraph.
