Jamie Vardy is certain to miss Leicester City's reunion with former Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri on Wednesday evening.

Vardy scored in Leicester's Premier League defeat of Watford on Saturday but has been playing through the pain.

"I will see tomorrow", Puel told reporters on Monday. "I can not say which players have a problem but I do not know at the moment my starting players in two days".

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri on facing Leicester: "It will be very odd".

Disappointingly for Vardy, the former England worldwide is set to miss the match, with Claude Puel hinting that he could require an operation to cure the niggling injury that has bothered the striker since last month.

Fulham spent heavily during the summer but they still find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table.

The Cottagers were competitive against the Blues and you can already see some signs that they are going to be more hard to beat - but you cannot just conjure up drastically different results overnight with the same pool of players. "I know he felt something but we will see with him and my medical staff".

"I have time to understand what we need".

Leicester go to Fulham in the Premier League tomorrow with Harry Maguire, struggling with a knee injury, set to miss out again. It is a balance to know his feeling.

"Every game is very important. Other players must be ready in their minds to play and replace another team-mate".

Ranieri has started life at Fulham with a 3-2 win over Southampton and a 2-0 defeat at west London rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Ranieri was sacked nine months after the success, but Puel says he has "a lot of respect" for the Italian.

"We can not forget what he bring to the club", he said.

"We need to be aware and be careful of this team because they play very well".
