  • Paradise Residents Being Allowed Back into Wildfire Devastated Town

7, 2018 photo provided Shayla Sullivan shows "Madison", the Anatolian shepherd dog that apparently guarded his burned home for almost a month until his owner returned in Paradise, Calif. Sullivan, an animal rescuer, left food and water for Madison during his wait.

The dog, named Madison, was left at the property because his owners were unable to reach him when the Camp Fire began to spread, the K9 Paw Print Rescue group wrote on Facebook earlier this week.

Andrea Gaylord was one of them and when she went back to her home off of Merrill Drive, she found it burned to the ground.

Pet rescue worker Shayla Sullivan visited the scorched area to give Madison food and water while the family was gone.

Gaylord fled when the November 8 fire destroyed the town of 27,000. Officials expect residents to be in shelters through the Christmas holiday, CBS News reports. The dogs, however, are now staying on the property, with Gaylord's family making regular trips to make sure they're cared for.

"If [the evacuees] can't be there I'm going to be and I'm not going to give up on their animal until they can get back in", Ms Sullivan said.

Bank of Canada maintains key rate at 1.75 per cent
The decision follows the quarter-point increase at the bank's previous policy meeting in October. The bank's rate directly affects the rates that Canadian consumers get from retail banks.

The "Camp Fire", which destroyed the historical mining town, is the most deadly in state history, with at least 88 fatalities. But while Madison's whereabouts remained a mystery, Sullivan had a hunch he wasn't too far away.

Except, as Sullivan exclaimed, "THERE MADISON WAS!"

"You could never ask for a better animal", Gaylord told KXTV.

"He had stayed to protect what was left of his home, and NEVER gave up on his people!" After all, some type of animal was eating the food and water she was regularly leaving out.

"These dogs are livestock guardian dogs, they do not do well in heat, they do not do well in small enclosures", she said. An emotional Gaylord said in an interview with the network that she was overcome with joy to see Madison waiting for her. 'I'm so happy I'm crying as I write this! "A LOOOOOONG month it must have been for him!" she wrote in the comments.

"Their instinctual job is to watch the flocks and we're part of them". "It's a comforting feeling".
