  • Nets edge Raptors in OT to end 8-game skid

That allowed the Nets to snap an eight-game losing streak overall and a 12-game skid against the Raptors with a 106-105 victory in overtime on Friday night at Barclays Center. Fred VanVleet's 3-pointer went around the rim and spun out.

Kawhi Leonard went off again for the Raptors.

Brooklyn Nets forward Joe Harris (12) fouls Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas (17) during the first half of an NBA basketball game, Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, in NY.

Dinwiddie added 17 and Allen had 12 and 10 rebounds as the Nets won for just the third time in their last 12 games.

"Needed that. Really did", Russell said. "So now we just got to keep going".

Jarrett Allen made the go-ahead basket for the Nets with a little more than a minute left, their only basket in overtime not made by Russell.

But Leonard also missed a pair of mid-range jumpers on Toronto's next two possessions and then deferred to VanVleet for the final shot.

D'Angelo Russell scored 29 points, including six in overtime, and the Nets beat the Raptors for the first time since April 3, 2015.

Jonas Valciunas added 24 points while Pascal Siakam contributed 16 as the Raptors shot 39.3 percent from the field and received a quiet game from Lowry.

Coach Kenny Atkinson said he had no problem with Jared Dudley's comments after the Nets blew a 23-point lead and lost to the Thunder on Wednesday, after which the veteran forward criticized the team for its repeated mistakes in crunch time.

The Nets led by seven with under five minutes remaining in regulation, but Leonard fed VanVleet for a three-pointer and then scored the next six points himself to give Toronto a 96-94 edge with 2:23 to play. But his shot from in the lane rattled out with 7 seconds to play.

That one was the most savage, for sure, but Leonard threw down a few ridiculous jams on this night, including capping off a wild sequence which he started by somehow keeping this ball, and himself, alive.

He then he blocked Dinwiddie's shot on the other end to force OT. "They ended up with eight but we didn't do too much better", Raptors coach Nick Nurse said.
