  • The unadjusted three-month moving average dropped to 3.9 per cent from 4.1 per cent in Lethbridge Medicine HatFile

That's the lowest jobless level recorded by Statistics Canada in more than 40-years.

Royce Mendes from CIBC Economics said the Bank of Canada will pay attention to the "scale indicators" in the November jobs report when deciding on the size of the stakes in next month.

Prince George, meanwhile, rose to 5.2 per cent, up from 4.8 in October. Those are individuals who are working or looking for work.

Employment rose by 94,000 in November, decreasing the unemployment rate from 5.8% to 5.6%, which is the lowest point since comparable data became available in 1976.

Canada added 94,100 net jobs for its largest monthly increase since March 2012 when there was a gain of 94,000 jobs. The unemployment rate last November was 5.3 per cent.

In B.C., the unemployment rate increased by 0.3 of a percentage point to 4.4 per cent.

But Friday's report also contained disappointing details.

"If there was one fly in the chardonnay, it was wages, which decelerated sharply to 1.7 per cent year-over-year from a 2.2 per cent clip in the prior month (and were down slightly month-over-month, seasonally adjusted) - that's the weakest pace of wage growth since mid-2017..." It now sits well below inflation.

The Bank of Canada is closely monitoring wages before making decisions on interest rates. In explaining the decision, he highlighted other economic negatives such as weaker-than-expected business investment and the steep slide in oil prices.

According to Stats Canada, the unemployment rate in Kamloops dropped from 5.4 per cent in October to 4.3 per cent in November. The addition of 227,400 full-time positions offset a small decrease in part-time work.

While B.C. had relatively good job performance, it trailed Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta, which each created more than 20,000 jobs in November. The services sector generated 67,200 jobs last month with help from the addition of 26,000 positions in professional, scientific and technical services.

Canada and provincial numbers are being attributed to gains in full-time employment.
