  • Perth Test Day 3 Virat Kohli becomes second fastest to score 25 Test centuries

The third day of the second Test between India and Australia will be played on December 15, 2018.

It was a solid day at the crease for the Australians, but could have been much better had any of its four batsmen who made over 40 gone on to post a substantial innings.

Australia resumed at 277 for six, with overnight batsmen Paine and Pat Cummins building a useful lower order partnership.

Up 1-0 in the four-Test series, India made a bad start to their first innings after cleaning up the Australian tail in the morning session.

Recalled spin-bowling all-rounder Hanuma Vihari and quick Ishant Sharma claimed two wickets apiece to get the tourists back into the contest after the Australians had won the toss and batted through the first session without losing a wicket.

The pitch was slow in the morning, but it quickened up after lunch.

Ashwin, who took six wickets in the 31-run win in the first Test in Adelaide, has a side problem, while Sharma has a back injury.

Interior Secretary Zinke leaving administration
Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke will be leaving his Administration at the end of this year. President Donald Trump announced the departure Saturday morning on Twitter.

It was local favourite Harris, who now represents Victoria, who resisted with the composure and resilience of a far more experienced Test batsmen to amass 70 runs, before the lively pitch claimed his wicket.

India were in real trouble at 2-8 but Kohli and Pujara, played patient cricket and kept their team in the game at a pivotal time.

Head and Shaun Marsh watchfully dug Australia out of a hole, though, before the latter fell for 45 to a sharp Ajinkya Rahane catch at slip off Vihari.

"I think one or two wickets in the first session tomorrow will be pretty big for us", Khawaja said.

India lead the four-match series 1-0.

"I think the first hour tomorrow will be very crucial. We have to start well and then we can have a chance at that tail".

Most of the 20,746 spectators at the new 60,000-seat stadium spent much of the day seeking refuge under the shelter of the stands with the temperature hitting 39 degrees Celsius. South Africa hosted the inaugural four-day fixture against Zimbabwe last year after ICC's clearance, England are set to play Ireland in one before the Ashes next year, and now Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts has said that it's important to keep an open mind towards four-day fixtures because Test cricket hasn't been played over five days forever.
