  • Lewis congratulated Joshua for winning gold in 2012

Lennox Lewis has insisted Anthony Joshua is trying to avoid fighting Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

The latter did not seem likely as a rematch between Fury and Wilder seemed to be the main thing on the table for both but now after an interview with Boxing Social, Tyson Fury's trainer Ben Davison has suggested that everything is still up in the air and that Fury is leaning towards letting Wilder and Joshua fight first and him taking on the victor.

Fury and Wilder fought an all-time classic at the Staples Center in Los Angeles earlier this month with talks already underway for a rematch according to Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel.

Lewis, who retired in 2003 following his reign as the undisputed heavyweight world champion, believes the recent Wilder-Fury fight will have swayed Joshua's opinion. "He doesn't want any of those guys!"

"When he saw that fight, he was like "Wow, these guys can box" and now they're going to do it again - he's at one place in his career and in boxing".

"I don't think he'll come over here right now", said Lewis.

'I think he's too happy in England being protected, and boxing in front of the British crowd'.

Joshua stated after his win over Carlos Takam a year ago that he would be willing to fight in a number of different locations outside of the UK.
