The two men told the film they were aged seven and 10 when Jackson began long-running relationships with them and their families while at the peak of his fame.

It features interviews with two men, now in their 30s, who say they were befriended by the singer and sexually abused by him when they were young boys, according to the filmmakers.

Dan Reed is the producer of the film and he was previously behind the documentaries The Pedophile Hunters and Three Days of Terror: The Charlie Hebdo Attacks. However, the suit was dismissed in December 2017. His estate denied those claims.

With the backlash R. Kelly received as a result of the docuseries spelling out his sexually exploitative and abusive ways, it will be interesting to see the reception of this film and the reaction to the two men's stories. Both men have tried to bring their accusations into the courtroom, but their cases were dismissed.

"This so called "documentary" is just another rehash of dated and discredited allegations", the statement continues.

Jackson lived at Neverland Ranch from 1988 to 2003 and outfitted it with a personal children's amusement park that included a zoo, artificial lake, and even carinval rides where he could "stay a kid forever". "It's baffling why any credible filmmaker would involve himself with this project", the statement said. "Wade Robson and James Safechuck [who was Jackson's companion as a child and sued Jackson's estate over sexual abuse claims] have both testified under oath that Michael never did anything inappropriate toward them".

Robson said he first met Jackson when he was 5 years old after winning a competition run by MJJ Productions in his native Australia. As the Wrap notes, the two brothers who accused Jackson of molestation in the singer's 2005 criminal trial are now only in their 20s. The entertainer died in June 2009.

"ABC News' documentary explores the life, career and legacy of Michael Jackson, who remains of great interest to people worldwide", an ABC News spokesperson told ET at the time.
