  • Amid probes White House lawyers prepare defense of Trump’s executive privilege

"The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has always been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice".

President Trump will not answer any more questions from special counsel Robert Mueller, Reuters reported recently. Giuliani told The Hill that the Trump legal team should be able to correct the Mueller report if there are any mistakes. Earlier on Friday, Giuliani sounded a little less confident, requesting that the Trump administration get the opportunity to "correct" the final Mueller report: "As a matter of fairness, they should show it to you - so we can correct it if they're wrong. They could be wrong", he told The Hill.

The Times reported that USA counterintelligence investigators were concerned that the president's actions were a possible threat to national security. The FBI's counterintelligence division handles national security matters. In an interview with Reuters, Giuliani said Mueller raised the possibility of follow-up questions but that the president's outside legal team told the special counsel before Christmas that Trump would not respond. But the president's activities before and after Comey's firing in May 2017, particularly two instances in which Trump tied the Comey dismissal to the Russian Federation investigation, helped prompt the counterintelligence aspect of the inquiry, the people said. While a potential obstruction of justice charge has already been reported, the detail of Trump as a target of counterintelligence is being made public for the first time.

Huawei has links with companies in Iran, Syria: Reuters report

Court documents submitted by Paul Manafort's lawyers accidentally revealed that, while serving as Trump campaign chairman, Manafort handed over internal campaign polling data to Konstantin V. Kilimnik, a Russian businessman linked to the GRU intelligence agency GRU.

"The question is, was this in return for a promise of something from the Russians, and did the candidate, now the president, know about it?" he asked, before adding that it "would be "a conspiracy" even if the Trump campaign never received anything of value from the Russians. "Campaigns leak polling data all the time", Giuliani said, before decrying the focus on the investigation as a "joke" and "total mockery" that "only happens because 75 percent of the press hates Trump".

"The crime is the conspiracy, the agreement".
