NFL Considering Moving AFC Title Game If Chargers Host It

The Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs kicks off Saturday with what could be the highest scoring game of the weekend when the Indianapolis Colts visit the Kansas City Chiefs.

It was previously reported by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that concerns about the Chargers hosting the AFC championship in a 30,000-seat venue could prompt the National Football League to relocate the game from Dignity Health Sports Park. As the home stadium of Major League Soccer's L.A. Galaxy, it is primarily used for soccer and is not properly created to accommodate NFL games.

League sources suggested that, should the Colts beat the Chiefs on Saturday afternoon, discussions about moving the AFC title game to the Coliseum and contingencies about playing a Sunday/Monday schedule would likely begin in earnest, with nothing made official until Sunday's results were in.

However, this solution also presents another dilemma.

Snowy weather could play role in Colts vs. Chiefs
Watkins has played in just one game since injuring his right foot in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns . Wide receiver Ryan Grant is out, while defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis is doubtful.

The rocket's first stage landed safely on SpaceX's "Just Read the Instructions" droneship in the Pacific Ocean. Friday's launch was SpaceX's eighth and final in a series for Iridium, which is headquartered in Virginia.

The NFL could move one of the two games to Monday as the league has confirmed in the past should the Giants and Jets both host Championship games.

If the Rams, the No. 2 seed in the NFC, do not advance to the championship game, and the Chargers do, playing the AFC title game at the Coliseum would be a possibility, sources said. Todd Gurley sat out the final two games of the regular season with inflammation in his left knee, but he was removed from the injury report Thursday and should be ready Saturday for what will be his first game action in about four weeks.

There are many factors in play here, but should they all fall in the right direction, next weekend could be a busy one for the L.A. Coliseum.
