  • Left Turns On Starbucks' Schultz For Helping 'Re-elect Trump'

Former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg - also rumored to be considering a 2020 run as a Democrat - jabbed at Schultz, saying an independent challenger would "just split the anti-Trump vote and end up re-electing the president".

In the last couple days, the former CEO of Starbucks has shown the level of his discontent.

Schultz announced that he is "seriously considering" a run at the presidency on Sunday.

In a USA Today op-ed published Tuesday, Schultz appears to ignore any concern that a potential third-party candidacy would help re-elect President Donald Trump, as he argues that a candidate "like me" could, in fact, be the one to prevent the commander-in-chief from winning a second term in the White House.

Schultz, who has touted his opposition to the corporate tax cuts at the center of the Republican tax overhaul in 2017, called for "comprehensive tax reform" but didn't get specific when pressed by NPR's Steve Inskeep.

At a fundraiser at the Trump International Hotel in D.C. on Monday night, the president reportedly told the crowd that he was trying to coax Schultz into the 2020 race with a tweet from earlier in the day.

That wealth has become a point of contention with Schultz's Democratic rivals, whose policies he has sharply criticized this week. Go back to Davos with the other billionaire elites who think they know how to run the world. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) to tax the net worth of those with more than $50 million in assets. "It's time for change".

Advisers say Schultz will be able to win by turning the 2020 campaign into a referendum on the two-party system.

The retired Starbucks Corp. executive is, strictly speaking, on tour to sell books. They found the independent candidate - a stand-in for Schultz - would fare better in a general election if a more liberal candidate, like Warren or Sen.

Trump responded Monday morning, tweeting, "Howard Schultz doesn't have the "guts" to run for President!".

Despite the fact that Schultz acknowledged he's been a lifelong Democrat, he made a freaky pivot and reiterated many Republican talking points, by slamming: "extremes on both sides", a claim Trump tosses around in response to criticisms about his response to white supremacy; "revenge politics", another phrase popularized during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings; and the $21 trillion in national debt, a statistic GOP candidates have long exhibited to show fiscal responsibility. I don't care if you're Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Republican-bring me your ideas.
