  • So it snowed in Seattle, and the dogs are loving it

An unusually powerful winter storm dropped over six inches on the Pacific Northwest city February 9 - a "new daily record" according to the National Weather Service, which also happens to report that more snow is on the way.

The 6.4 inches of snow in Sea-Tac on Friday was a new daily record, and the second most in a single day in the past 20 years according to the National Weather Service.

Snow began falling north of Seattle with some areas recording 8 inches (20 centimeters) of snow before it made its way south and enveloped the city.

There can be a rapid freeze-up in the lower Ohio Valley later Tuesday as temperatures plunge behind the rain, causing any lingering wet areas to turn to ice.

Two more significant winter storms are expected to blanket western Washington with more snow starting Sunday afternoon.

The weather service says that was colder than the Arctic coast or North Slope of Alaska.

And wouldn't you know it, the city's canine residents can't get enough.
