Browns Sign Kareem Hunt To One-Year Deal

Dorsey drafted Hunt while working as general manager of Kansas City. No charges were filed in the incident.

Hunt was released from the Chiefs last season after video footage surfaced showing him shoving and kicking a woman during an incident that took place in the lobby of a Cleveland hotel past year.

Hunt was promptly released and went unclaimed on the NFL's waiver wire system. "I also understand the expectations that the Browns have clearly laid out and that I have to earn my way back to the NFL", Hunt continued. The decision to sign him so quickly, however, indicates otherwise. Are the Browns equipped to handle Hunt?

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson had already said that "there's no place" in the league for Hunt's actions.

When TMZ released the video in early December, the Chiefs were quick to release the running back saying that Hunt had continually lied to the team when questioned about the incident. These (again, very recent) revelations only add to the skepticism about the Browns' move to sign him. Around this time previous year, Kareem Hunt found himself in some trouble with the law, after being caught on camera involved in a domestic violence incident. Perpetrators of violence earning a path back to employment is part of rehabilitation. "He understands the act that he has committed is wrong".

Setting aside the horrific video that went public and led to his release from the Chiefs, there is the business of football to now consider with the signing of Kareem Hunt, and his impact on the field and on the 53-man roster for the Browns.

‘Devil in the White City’ will be Hulu series from DiCaprio, Scorsese
Their fates were linked by the magical Chicago World's Fair of 1893, nicknamed the "White City" for its majestic beauty. Holmes, a handsome and devious doctor, who built his own "Murder Castle" in the midst of a fairground.

It's not surprising that the team to give it to him was the Browns - general manager John Dorsey was in the same role with the Chiefs two years ago, and drafted Hunt in the third round.

Though Hunt has been signed to a one-year deal, according to a report from NFL Network, he is still on the Commissioner's Exempt List until the conclusion of the NFL's investigation into his conduct from the February 2018 incident.

Later, standing in the lobby of the team's headquarters in front of a generic backdrop and not one that would typically feature one of the team's corporate sponsors, Dorsey was asked what his message would be to any female employees of the Browns.

"Here at the Beatitude House we deal with a lot of people who have had things in their past that aren't great, so we are always hoping to help them make a fresh start", said co-director Teresa Boyce. While Dorsey's decision to meet with the local media may have been well-intentioned, his comments were-as is too often the case-lacking in the depth and specificity for which the situation called.

Even though Hunt didn't get claimed immediately, nobody was under the impression that Hunt has played his final snap in the NFL.

"I think every time you go through these very hard situations and these types of actions, you have to study everything from the person and then find out are they willing to be better people moving forward", Dorsey said.
