Colin Kaepernick #7 of the San Francisco 49ers warms up during a game against the Miami Dolphins on November 27, 2016 in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Nike's 2018 "Just Do It" campaign, which featured Colin Kaepernick, drew competing reactions from both sides of the political spectrum.

Martin anticipates his store will close in about a month's time.

In September, Prime Time Sports owner Stephen Martin chose to ban Nike products from his Colorado Springs store after the sportswear giant went all in to support former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick by featuring him on its 30th anniversary "Just Do It" ad campaign.

The controversial ad from the campaign included a photo of Kaepernick's face, with the words "Believe in something". The video made no references to Kaepernick's kneeling during the national anthem, but still received some criticism.

"Being a sports store without Nike is kind of like being a milk store without milk or a gas station without gas". How do you do it? "They have a monopoly on jerseys".

Martin said he realized a year ago that he could go out of business over the decision to remove Nike merchandise, given that a sizable chunk of his inventory was National Football League jerseys that are exclusive to Nike.

The owner of the store has also admitted that there may be more Kaepernick supporters out there than he thought.

The lack of Nike apparel isn't the only reason people stopped shopping at his store. He is closing down his store.

"As much as I hate to admit this", Martin told KOAA News5 on Monday, "perhaps there are more Brandon Marshall and Colin Kaepernick supporters out there than I realized".
