Wall apparently developed an infection in the incision from his initial heel surgery in early January, then the Achilles' rupture came when he slipped and fell at home. The Wizards' Director of Medical Services and Orthopedist Dr. Wiemi Douoguih diagnosed the rupture during the procedure to clean out the infection.

Wall will undergo surgery on the latest injury, and per the team, will be out for about 12 months.

Dr. Robert Anderson of Green Bay, Wisc., will perform the surgery to fix the torn Achilles, but no date has been scheduled for the procedure.

John Wall was looking at being out for 6-8 months after undergoing heel surgery last month after discovering that he had a genetic defect in his foot that affected his Achilles tendon.

Daniel Ricciardo's departure to Renault has opened the door for 23-year-old Pierre Gasly to stake his claim as a race victor of the future.

Ironically, Wall had said that one reason he elected to have the season-ending heel surgery was to avoid suffering a worse injury.

Wall was limited to 41 games last season, mostly because of surgery on his left knee.

What sort of return can they get for a point guard that won't play until mid-February? "It sucks, it's unfortunate". But me knowing John as long as I do, I know he'll overcome this. "Through it all, just try to make sure you better yourself each day".

Wall averaged 20.7 points, 8.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 32 games for the Wizards this season. However, those talks apparently dissipated quickly, especially in the case of John Wall whose contract isn't the most franchise-friendly with this season marking the first of his $170 max extension.
