The founder of Chinese electronics giant Huawei said it doesn't need the U.S.to survive. Earlier, EU commissioner for the digital single market Andrus Ansip urged EU states to exercise caution when dealing with Chinese tech companies, including Huawei.

The Chinese company has repeatedly denied the claims.

In an interview with the BBC, Ren Zhengfei said the criticism of his company from officials in the United States had actually been to Huawei's benefit.

Huawei Technologies Co.'s founder Ren Zhengfei said "there's no way the USA can crush us", according to an interview he gave to BBC. "The world can not leave us because we are more advanced. Even if they persuade more countries not to use us temporarily, we can always scale things down a bit".

"And because the United States keeps targeting us, and finding faults with us, it has forced us to improve our products and services".

Huawei, the world's biggest producer of telecoms equipment, faces intense scrutiny in the West over its relationship with the Chinese government and allegations of enabling state espionage, with the United States calling for its allies not to use its technology.

Ren accused Washington of leading a politically motivated investigation into his firm.

Last year, security concerns prompted Australia to ban Huawei equipment from its future 5G network.

The UK is set to make a decision on whether it will use Huawei's equipment in March or April, but the country's National Cyber Security Centre has reportedly found ways to "limit the risks" of its technology.

"If the lights go out in the West, the East will still shine".

"America doesn't represent the world."

The founder of Huawei commented on the arrest of his daughter, Meng Wanzhou, Huawei chief financial officer, noting that he believes that arrest was politically motivated.

Mr Ren's daughter Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's chief financial officer, was arrested on 1 December in Vancouver at the request of the U.S., and is expected to be subject of a formal extradition request.

"Firstly, I object to what the USA has done. This kind of politically motivated act is not acceptable".

"The U.S. likes to sanction others, whenever there's an issue, they'll use such combative methods", he said.

"We still trust in the United Kingdom, and we hope that the United Kingdom will trust us even more", he added.

"They may have thought if they've arrested her Huawei would fall, but we didn't fall, we are still moving forward". "Because if the USA doesn't trust us, then we will shift our investment from the U.S.to the United Kingdom on an even bigger scale", Ken told the BBC.
