  • Speaking to PTI after a favourable verdict by the apex court on Friday a relieved Sreesanth said 'I don't know what life has in store for me after all these years'

He was responding to media after Supreme Court cancelled his life ban in the spot fixing case and asked BCCI to reconsider the punishment on Friday.

S Sreesanth, the tainted Indian fast bowler, was charged with the crime of spot-fixing during the 2013 edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) when he represented the Rajasthan Royals (RR). "The Supreme Court has given me a lifeline and it has helped me restore my dignity", said Sreesanth in reaction to the apex court's decision. Calling the ban on Sreesanth playing cricket "unfair", senior advocate Salman Khurshid, appearing for the cricketer, told the bench that "nowhere in the world, life ban has been imposed on a cricketer like this".

The bench made it clear that Sreesanth will get the opportunity of being heard by the committee on the quantum of the punishment. I am eagerly waiting for the next 90 days for BCCI's decision.

The Supreme Court further said that its order should have no effect on criminal proceedings pending against S Sreesanth.

Although in July 2015, the Patiala House Court dropped the charges against the 36 accused in the scandal, the BCCI refused to reverse its disciplinary order against Sreesanth based on evidence.

"It is a huge relief for me that the life ban is lifted". "I am stubborn and nothing will happen", Sreesanth was quoted as saying to the bench, of Ashok Bhushan and Justice K.M. Joseph.
